Armeena Rana Khan Has Returned To Our TV Screens And We Couldn’t Be Happier

Armeena Rana Khan Is Back With A Bang And We Hope She’s Here To Stay.

She last appeared as the leading lady in the film Sherdil, opposite Mikaal Zulfiqar, and her last TV drama was Daldal, opposite Zahid Ahmed. Both came out in 2017 and now 3 years later Armeena has graced us again with her on screen presence.

In the past we have seen Armeena Khan play damsel in distress, the roles typically written for females in Pakistani dramas.

But this time Armeena’s role as Tara is the one giving everyone stress.

Yes.

Her role in Mohabbatain Chahatain is that of a jealous, attention seeking Tara who is loud, sarcastic and doesn’t shy away from speaking her mind. So much so she always ends up arguing aggressively with her husband Kamil (Tipu Sharif).

Right from the start, Tara is a wife who constantly suspects her husband of cheating on her. This kind of behaviour always leads to arguments and lands Kamil into trouble amongst his friends, family and even clients.

In her opening scene, Tara walks into a meeting taking place between Kamil and his client, Sara. Tara behaves rudely with Sara and denounces them of having an affair. This doesn’t sit well with Sara and Kamil potentially loses a client.

Kamil is best friends with Faraz (Junaid Khan) who is a doting husband to his wife Sneha (Hira Mani) and they both have a son together, Shehroz.

Following Tara’s behaviours, Kamil repeatedly tells Faraz that how lucky he is to have such a loving family while his wife is making life hell for him.

Junaid & Hira as Faraaz and Sneha

Tara, upon meeting Sneha, every time makes it a point to comment on infidelity and how careless husbands are, but Sneha always hushes her up by politely disagreeing with her.

Junaid Khan and Hira Mani have just wrapped up a HUMTV hit ‘Kashf’ and it’s a treat to watch them couple up again for Mohabbatain Chahatain.

In the ending scenes, we can see Tara stealing the limelight once again at little Shehroz’s birthday party, where she announces that she’s pregnant. Kamil does not believe her and thinks this is another publicity stunt to seek attention.

Episode 1 concludes at a fed up Kamil trying to divorce Tara but is interrupted by Faraaz who tries to knock some sense into him.

Armeena as Tara

Will Kamil divorce Tara? Let’s see what happens in Episode 2.

Directed by Ali Hassan, Mohabbatain Chahatain raises some important issues where two families are on opposite sides of the spectrum of social divide. One thinks the other is lucky to have the life they have, but it’s not all rainbows and butterflies on either side.

The drama Mohabbatain Chahatain also highlights mental health issues in the form of Armeena Khan’s character as Tara, which she has performed brilliantly. Such traits of being jealous to the extent of ruining others are not normal.

Armeena as Tara

‘My role is very complex. Tara is a troubled young adult in her late 20s or early 30s. She is disturbed in life and seeks attention. She has extreme amounts of jealousy and she definitely has mental health problems. She seems to be vampy, but there is more to Tara. The script was very multilayered and multidimensional. Tara is not black-and-white, there is a lot of grey in her. There is no redemption for such people in this world, but ultimately few people understand mental health issues. Let’s see how the audience sticks to it. I have put my heart and soul into playing this character.’
