FORENSIC REVIEW

Forensic is a remake of a Malayalam film of the same name and is crime thriller that keeps

you at the edge of your seats by often blurring the lines between forensic science and forensic science-fiction. It’s a rollercoaster ride full of twists and turns at every corner.

The story is about a series of gruesome child murders that plagues the town of Mussoorie, and a female sub-inspector (Radhika Apte) is assigned the lead role for the investigation. To make matters worse, her former lover— a relaxed ace named Johnny (Vikrant Massey)— is also assigned to the case as a forensic scientist.

Often showing scenes from the past and present, the viewer is presented with a threatening scenes of Megha’s dark past, her struggles with personal loss and her ideas of right and wrong.  Massey’s character Johnny switches between a wise genius and a comic relief. Massey mentioned that he had spent a considerable amount of time with a team of forensics who was invited onboard for the film.

The film celebrates the technological advancements in forensic science and features novel criminal investigation techniques. Getting an insight into child criminology could be a good reason to watch the film. Another might be the attempt to reverse gender roles. But if anything, you can watch it for the chills and comical relief if you like.
