The Magic Mike franchise shows that a woman can have whatever she wants. These films give an insight into the male stripping industry in an entertaining yet thoughtful way, that gives the viewer the thrill of a girls’ night out, while also putting the men front and centre. The third and final film in the franchise is a spin-off live performance, London West End smash-hit Magic Mike Live.
The film sees Mike taken by Max (Salma Hayek Pinault) to make her ex-husband jealous and put on a stripping show in his beloved theatre. But what Mike doesn’t know is that Max has an agenda all her own.
The film is a perfect homage to the Live Show and for those who haven’t experienced it yet, is a great start to what they can expect. Silent, strong men on stage bringing every girls’ fantasy to live. The story is also just that. We have Mike (the silent, strong man) who brings Max’s desires to life… which she doesn’t even realise!
From the get-go, we know that this isn’t going to be like the previous film. The film is not just about the stripping. The film takes it further to explore emotional needs and desire one has, but not being able to truly fulfil them. What they are willing to do so that they are truly happy.
Magic Mike’s Last Dance is available on DVD and Blu-ray now!
